Dr. Rachel Camhi, Psy.D.
Licensed Psychologist | Child Development, Neurodiversity & Trauma-Informed Care Specialist
Dr. Rachel Camhi is a licensed psychologist and expert in child development, neurodiversity, and trauma-informed mental health care. With over a decade of experience, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and achieve emotional balance.
Dr. Camhi takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to therapy—one that honors each person’s unique story and innate capacity for growth. She believes meaningful change happens when clients feel empowered, supported, and deeply understood. Her integrative style blends evidence-based techniques with genuine empathy, helping clients not only heal but also rediscover confidence, purpose, and connection.
Dr. Camhi specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, stress management, and lifestyle balance. Her extensive experience as a school psychologist at a Nassau BOCES special education high school has given her deep insight into supporting students with complex learning needs, including those in foster care. Her work has led to one of the highest success rates in transitioning students from specialized alternative placements back to their home school districts, reinforcing her commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments.
In addition to her work with Nassau BOCES, she has built a thriving private practice based entirely on word-of-mouth referrals, where she helps individuals achieve lasting transformation—without psychopharmacology or lifelong treatment—often within just six months.
At the heart of her work is a belief that every individual—child, teen, or adult—has the ability to heal, grow, and thrive when given the right tools, guidance, and connection.
